Darling
Street Balmain, circa 1908
An
early electric tram (F Class) passes Loyalty Square on its way to the Darling
Street Wharf. This streetscape has changed very little over the decades
and most of the buildings seen here are still standing.
The absence of the motor car is most evident and the verandahs add an appealing
aspect to the street. Note the canvas blind shading the pavement on the
right and the red flag in the left foreground, warning tram drivers of trackwork
ahead. |
